Casbaa, FICCI Frames to host seminar in HK

THE Cable and Satellite Broadcaster's Association of Asia (Casbaa), along with FICCI Frames , is hosting a seminar at the Casbaa convention in Hong Kong from October 27-31.

A prime session, "India Today and Tomorrow - A Business Proposition with 40 million customers," is being held today, according to a release. Casbaa is the region's leading organisation for the promotion of multi-channel television and data transmission via cable and satellite networks. FICCI Frames is represented by Mr Kunal Dasgupta, Co-Chairman, FICCI Entertainment Committee & CEO, Sony Entertainment Television; Mr Amit Khanna, Chairman, E-Entertainment Alliance (FICCI-Nasscom-TiE Alliance), & Chairman, Reliance Entertainment; Mr L.V. Krishnan, CEO, TAM Media Research, and Mr Sunil Khanna, CEO, Zee Turner.

The session will examine the potential in the Indian television sector, and explore opportunities and linkages between India and Asia.

"The corporatisation (and digitisation) of the India pay-TV market is the most important opportunity for the entire $14 billion a year Asia-Pacific cable and satellite TV industry," said Mr Simon Twiston Davies, CEO, Casbaa. "This is far more than a matter for multinationals, it's about developing a new communications growth engine for India itself."
