Textile conference from Jan 31 in Komarapalayam

THE 59th all-India textile conference on the theme `Global Competitiveness - Indian Perspective' will be held on January 31 and February 1, in the powerloom town of Komarapalayam.

As part of the two-day conference being organised under the aegis of the Textile Association India (TAI), a textile machinery exhibition - Technomas 2004 - with a focus on weaving and processing machinery will also be held for three days starting January 30.Giving the details on the proposed textile conference, Mr M.S. Mathivanan, the national president of the TAI, said this year's Komarapalayam conference would strive to bring greater participation from different textile manufacturing sectors in the TAI's activities.

To realise this broader objective, the general council of the TAI meeting during the conference would chalk out definite plans.

Reliance Industries' fibre division has offered to be the lead sponsor of the Komarapalayam conference and the company's President (fibre division), Mr Subodh Sapra, will be delivering the keynote address at the inaugural session which is to be attended among others, by the Union Textile Minister, Mr Shahnawaz Hussain, the Secretary in the Department of Textiles, Government of India, Mr Mohapatra, and the Textile Commissioner, Mr Subodh Kumar, besides the State ministers from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.
