Chintamani depositors in lurch

Our Correspondent

MADURAI: The Triuchi Consumers Cooperative Wholesale Stores Ltd, popularly known as Chintamani Super Market, has failed to repay the deposits it had collected from the depositors for well over two years now.

According to Mr S. Pushavanam, Secretary, Consumer Protection Council, Tamil Nadu, Chintamani has even failed to comply with the interim order of the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, to refund the deposits before Pongal, following the representation by the Consumer Protection Council, Tamil Nadu on behalf of 280 depositors.

There are other investors awaiting refund that matured two years ago. The National Commission has even reduced the post maturity interest rate payable to that depositors stipulated by the state commission. The depositors continued to remain in the dark as to the course of action proposed to be taken by super market to clear the dues, he said.
