Tourism APTDC plan one-stop shop for tourism Our Bureau
Hyderabad , Feb. 11 GIVING a boost to the tourism infrastructure in the State, the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) has taken up the Rs 22-crore Paryatak Bhavan, which will be made a one-stop shop for all tourism needs. The project, slated to be completed in 18 months, is coming up on a two-acre plot on the Begumpet road. While the Union and State Governments will chip in Rs 5 crore and Rs 2.2 crore respectively, the corporation will bear the remaining expenditure. The seven-storyed building with as many as 50 counters, giving access to tourism products of different States and the Union Government and agents of various tourism corporations. It will also have an 80-room star hotel on the top three floors. Mr Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Minister for Tourism and Culture, laid the foundation stone for the building. "Tourists can step in to the bhavan, pick-and-choose a tourist destination, hire a cab. All tourist-related services will be offered under one roof," he said, addressing newsmen later. "Moreover, the location is very convenient. They have an airport in the vicinity and a railway station in the neighbourhood," he said. Asked about the increasing traffic congestion in the area, he said the government would be taking up a four-lane road from Punjagutta to Moosapet to ease the traffic. "Also, the 108-km outer ring road too help tackle the traffic problem," the Minister said. Mr C. Anjaneya Reddy, Chairman and Managing Director of APTDC, said the centrally air-conditioned bhavan would also house retail outlets, showrooms and a craft bazaar. "One can even book their plane tickets from here," he said. The corporation officials said the project would open up business opportunities for various States and other stakeholders in the industry.
