Rainwater harvesting projects from Coke

Our Bureau

Thiruvananthapuram , March 10

Coca-Cola has commissioned six rainwater-harvesting projects in Palakkad district. A company spokesman quoted Mr Justice B. N. Kirpal, former Chief Justice of India, and Chairman, Coca-Cola India Environmental Council, as saying in Palakkad on Wednesday that the six projects have a potential to recharge approximately five lakh litres of water on a daily basis.

Set up over 40 acres of land, the projects have been implemented on the premises of the local Government LP School and five separate farmlands in the Nellimudu area of Chittoor taluk. The projects will help augment groundwater supply to the local communities.

Justice Kirpal hoped that the entire district would set up water conservation and water recharging schemes that will benefit communities all around.

The rainwater harvesting structures have been scientifically designed.
