Idea Cellular's new package

Our Bureau

MUMBAI: Idea Cellular has said that it is pitting itself against landline phone connections with its new tariffs, the most distinctive feature of its Buzz 300 package being cell-to-cell rates at Rs 1.20 per minute.

"This move would greatly help consumers to opt for more mobile phones instead of landline connections," said a news release from the company.

Although the landline-to-landline tariff is Rs 1.20 for three minutes, the cell-to-cell rate of Rs 1.20 for one minute is comparable with this since market surveys indicate that most cell-to-cell calls are well under 60 seconds, according to the chief of Marketing, Mr Sukanto Dey.

The new tariffs would be introduced in all circles of operation, said Mr Dey.
