Technology Day fete in Thiruvananthapuram

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala State Centre of the Institution of Engineers (India) and surgicals major Terumo Penpol propose to conduct a workshop on `The challenging aspects of R&D in India' as part of the National Technology Day on May 11.

Announcing this, a Terumo Penpol spokesperson said here that this was being done in the backdrop of many experts having expressed apprehensions over the real danger of scientific and technology capabilities of the country being compromised due to the current fascination for careers in IT, marketing and management.

At the workshop, scientists drawn from R&D establishments in and around Thiruvananthapuram would make presentations on innovative R&D projects taken up by them for the benefit of high school and higher secondary students. To be held at the Institution of Engineers Hall at Vellayambalam (Telephone: 0471-2322991), the programme would begin at 9 a.m. and be wound up by 1 p.m.
