Airtel offers traffic info in Chennai

AIRTEL has tied up with the traffic police in Chennai to offer mobile phone users traffic and vehicle-related information.

According to a press release from Airtel, mobile phone users will have to send an SMS to 98400 00103.

They can obtain information from the traffic control room on traffic flow, accidents, and law and order and crime matters. Information on vehicle registration and violations noted against the vehicle can also be received. The same number can be used to send in information to the police.

The facility, the first of its kind in the country, according to Airtel, is available round-the-clockand there is provision to relay the information to police officers in the field. Airtel has provided the technological and infrastructural support such as software, email escalation and routing system, online query resolution techniques and the hardware for the communication network. On the police side, the facility was designed and executed by D3D Technologies, Chennai.
