Mid-term review on dumping of steel billets, bars initiated

K.R. Srivats

New Delhi , June 1

THE Designated Authority in the Commerce Ministry has initiated mid-term review investigation on the anti-dumping duty in force on certain seamless grade alloy and non-alloy steel billets, bars and rounds originating in or exported from Russia, China and Ukraine.

Under the mid-term review, the Authority is expected to review the need for continued imposition of anti-dumping duty and whether cessation of anti-dumping duty is likely to lead to continuation or recurrence of dumping and injury on imports of such items from Russia, China and Ukraine.

The Authority had come out with its final findings on June 1, 2001 and the definitive anti-dumping duty was imposed by the Finance Ministry on June 26, 2001. Informed sources said that Maharashtra Seamless Steel had now submitted a representation for withdrawal of anti-dumping duty on certain seamless grade alloy and non-alloy steel billets, bars and rounds.
