SSI `Promotional package for SSIs on cards' Our Bureau
New Delhi , July 27 THE Ministry of Small-Scale Industry is in the process of drafting a major promotional package, the Additional Secretary & Development Commissioner (SSI), Ministry of Small-Scale Industry, Mr Suresh Chandra, has said here. Participating in a meeting organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Mr Chandra said that the promotional package would also aim at integrating a new export and marketing promotional scheme, which would help the industry export and market itself better. He said the Ministry was working towards increasing the size of the industry and that it attached great importance to technology upgradation of SSIs and SMEs. The Budget, he said, contained several key proposals like increasing the subsidy component to 15 per cent, besides increasing the loan ceiling of SSIs to Rs 1 crore, which would go a long way in improving the competitiveness of the sector. He said that the key would be to see that more and more sectors come forward to take advantage of the schemes announced by the Government.
