Agri-Biz & Commodities - Rice

No takers

K.K. Mustafah

Paddy harvesting is in final stages in Chittoor taluk of Palakkad district. A large quantity of paddy harvested recently in this area remains unsold as the cooperative societies are not procuring it. As a result, the farmers are selling them to buyers from Tamil Nadu and Kerala rice mills at rock bottom prices. The cooperative societies are yet to pay the farmers around Rs 2.25 crore for the paddy procured last year.
