Bangalore , Dec. 1 THE Karnataka Vintage and Classic Car Club (KVCCC) plans to start a Vintage Car Museum soon. According to Mr Premnath P.S., Vice-President, KVCCC, the Club has approached the Government and has "asked for land on Bannerghatta Road." Funds for building the museum will be raised at the silver jubilee celebrations of the KVCCC to be celebrated in January next year, he said. To mark the occasion, the club has planned a three-day event at the Bangalore Palace Grounds. Starting on January 14, 2005, the celebrations will have various events such as an auto exhibition, a time-distance format rally to Nandi Hills, seminars and lectures on vintage vehicles and a period costume parade. According to Mr Sulaiman Jamal, President, KVCCC, "It is our objective to pass on the knowledge and heritage to the future generation and create awareness of the vintage vehicles." The KVCCC currently has 230 members and over 450 cars and motorcycles of vintage variety. The Club is expecting more than 250 vintage cars and 60 two-wheelers to participate at the anniversary rally. The KVCCC, the oldest vintage car club in India, was started in 1979 to preserve and promote heritage vehicles. The membership profile includes the royalty, bureaucrats, industrialists, politicians, professionals and even some mechanics who have come across vintage cars and are interested in their restoration.
