THE Indian Institute of Technology - Kharagpur, the oldest and largest of IITs in the country, today announced that its Vinod Gupta School of Management (VGSOM) is set to introduce two new programmes in the next academic year starting July 2006.
The management school will now be offering a five-year dual degree programme leading to a B.Tech (Hons) degree in any branch of engineering and MBA. The selection of students for the programme will be from JEE qualified students of IIT Kharagpur from the many branches of engineering who have completed their first year with a minimum prescribed Cumulative Grade Point Average and are chosen by a VGSOM selection board.
The second programme on offer is a customised sponsored MBA programme for the Defence Services. Another variation of the programme offered is a sponsored PGDBA, which is particularly relevant to the Indian Air Force. The selection process to these programmes is to be set up by the Defence Services in conjunction with VGSOM.
Foreign students will also be admitted to the MBA programme, with special emphasis on admitting students from the SAARC countries.
