Cisco ties up with Bharti, VSNL for joint marketing

NETWORKING major Cisco Systems has tied up with Bharti Tele-Ventures and Tatas-managed Videsh Sanchar Nigam Ltd to undertake joint marketing initiatives and offer customised solutions for enterprise customers.

This is part of the Cisco Powered Network (CPN) program launched in the country, under which the company will provide a certification to service providers that use Cisco equipment and meet prescribed standards for service quality and support.

Bharti and Tata VSNL can also tap Cisco's financial arm, Cisco Capital, for flexible leasing option to corporate customers. "Managed services to the enterprise segment has emerged as a key revenue opportunity for major Indian service providers. To help its service provider-customers tap this revenue opportunity effectively and grow the market, Cisco has already signed up Bharti and Tata VSNL as CPN program members for their IP VPN service," said Mr Sudhir Narang, Senior V-P, Service Provider & Government business, Cisco Systems India & SAARC.

The joint marketing initiatives will also include Cisco funding 20 per cent of the marketing campaigns of these operators that focus on managed services targeted at enterprises. Joint advertising, logo branding on each other's Web sites and technical training is also part of the programme.

Cisco will also bring to the table a strong understanding of networking needs of enterprises and help the operators to connect with its enterprise business customers.

CPN is a global initiative under which Cisco engages with leading operators and undertakes joint marketing initiatives. Cisco also has several international service providers such as BT Infonet, AT&T, Equant and MCI among others who are CPN members and are providing services in India.

Internationally, more than 350 service providers around the world are members of the program.
