Cricket finds a place

Our Bureau

New Delhi, March 6

The Aussie love for sport, especially cricket, was dominant in the interaction with the Australian Prime Minister, Mr John Howard. He announced bringing to India a special exhibition on Sir Don Bradman.

"I hinted at the outset that what perhaps unites people from our two countries more than anything is our passion for cricket.

"And of all the stars our two countries have produced, the name of Sir Donald Bradman still embodies a special magic," he said. While mentioning other cricketers such as Allan Border, Steve Waugh and Sachin Tendulkar, Mr Howard said the Australian Government would contribute A$1 million in sponsorship towards the Bradman Exhibition tour of India.

The exhibition will be specially put together for Indian cricket lovers and it will travel to New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata later this year.
