Outlook Polycom to set up office in Bangalore Preethi J
Bangalore , April 26 In an age when video conferencing is fast becoming a part of criminal investigation and helping courts reduce timelines of trial proceedings, a US-based company has plans to increase its reach to larger sections of society and create more applications for the masses. Speaking at the sidelines of a summit on IP telephony, Mr Yugal Sharma, Country Manager, India & SAARC, Polycom India, said, "Video conferencing will soon be available in homes, once the last mile connectivity is complete. Then, many innovative applications will come forth." He felt that benefits in health and education sectors would be far-reaching, and cultural applications would rise with video conferencing software fulfilling dreams of the masses. Applications abound - with a computer, a web-cam and this software, people are able to celebrate Rakshabandan and Karva Chauth across boundaries. Polycom plans to unleash video conferencing across India and will set up a business development office in Bangalore soon. It already has an office in New Delhi. The Bangalore office will be the base of Polycom's entire southern business development operations. "It will help increase our reach, distribution channels, and clients in that region. Also, having an office in Bangalore will be helpful, as the Sri Lankan market can be easily accessed from there," he added.
