Delhi, Mumbai airports in pvt hands

Our Bureau

New Delhi, May 2

In a move that would give a boost to the Government plans for modernising Delhi and Mumbai airports, the management of the two metro airports pass into private sector hands from midnight tonight. "The Operations, Management, Development Agreement, which is considered as the mother agreement for development of the two airports is now effective.

From midnight tonight the GMR group gets custody of Delhi airport, while Mumbai airport will be with GVK group," sources connected with the process said. Apart from undertaking mandated capital expenditure and fulfilling what has been promised at the time of submitting the bids to the Government, the two private sector companies would now be required to draw up a master plan for making the metro airports into world-class entities.
