Dabhol plant to step up output to 640 MW

Rahul Wadke

The turbines of block II have achieved a daily generation of about 300 MW.

Mumbai , May 6

The Dabhol power plant would be able to step up production to 640 MW by May 15, from the current level of 300 MW per day, a senior official said.

The plant, which resumed operation from May 1, after a gap of nearly five years, started generation with 30 MW per day initially.

Mr Chandan Roy, Chairman and Managing Director of Ratnagiri Gas and Power Pvt Ltd (RGPPL), which is operating the plant now, told Business Line that the initial technical problems relating to the single buoy mooring had been solved and the process of bunkering of Naphtha would commence shortly.

Mr Roy said the power generated from the plant is `stable' power — meaning the supply would be regular without any major fluctuation.

The turbines of block II have started operation from May 1 and have achieved a daily generation of about 300 MW from the initial generation of 20 MW.
