Kochi , July 14 Airtel on Friday launched its Airtel Mega Fixed Wireless Phone (FWP) services in Kerala. The service will be launched in a phased manner starting with key towns such as Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode and would shortly be available across the State within two months. Mr Ramgopal Vallath, COO, Bharti Airtel Ltd, Kerala Circle, said the company is hopeful of getting a sizeable share from the market, as Kerala is one of the largest markets for landlines. The penetration for landlines is high with 34 lakh landline customers and another three and a half lakh subscribers waiting for landlines, he added. Airtel Mega is innovative wireless phone that is feature rich and coupled with value-based tariff plans. It fulfils the customer needs for an innovative home phone service with the advantages of instant availability, feature rich instruments and mobility within the premises. With this launch, Airtel completes its total telecom services portfolio for all segments, he said. Mr Jacob Perez, Vice-President, Sales and Marketing (Mobility), said that Airtel Mega operates on GSM network and available in post-paid and prepaid tariff plans. It will be rolled out progressively across the length and breadth of Airtel's wireless network. It will also bring to customers a unique bouquet of value-added services, including hello tunes, SMS, caller ID and all other services that Airtel has pioneered in the last few years, he said. Airtel offers its customers mega value whereby calling to all local and intra circle mobile is given at Rs 1.20 for three minutes. Customers can choose from three European-styled phone models in both desktop and cordless versions.
