Sony's claims dismissed

Radhika Menon

Mumbai , Sept. 11

Connectix Corporation's software allows users to play Sony PlayStation video games on their computers.

Sony Computer Entertainment charged that Connectix's copying of the PlayStation BIOS system during its reverse engineering process did not constitute fair use.

The defendant's lawyers showed that Sony actually benefited from sales of the Connectix software, and that the balance of hardships weighed against a preliminary injunction.

All of the copyright and trademark claims in this suit were dismissed.
