Nalco bags export award

Bhubaneswar, Sept. 22

National Aluminium Company Ltd (Nalco) has bagged the top export award of CAPEXIL for the year 2005-06. The award was received by Mr K.K. Mallick, Director, (Commercial), from the West Bengal Chief Minister, Mr Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, at a function held at Kolkata on Thursday.

During 2005-06, the company exported 8.62 lakh tonnes of alumina and 95,747 tonnes of aluminium metal achieving the highest ever export earning of Rs 2,306.20 crore.

The company sold 2,58,094 tonnes of aluminium metal in the domestic market maintaining a market share of about 30 per cent. It also achieved record sales turnover of Rs 5,324.16 crore and net profit of Rs 1,562.20 crore during 2005-06.
