Indiasoft generates Rs 2,000-cr biz

As per preliminary estimates, Indiasoft 2007 has generated about Rs 2,000-crore business, including firm commitments. Dr Pradhan , an entrepreneur from South Africa has proposed to generate about $150 million (Rs 700 crore) worth business in two years.Summing up the Gitex and Indiasoft hosted at Hyderabad, the organisers said that there was immense potential for business in some of the emerging markets of Latin America, ASEAN and Africa. During the event, seven companies used the platform to launch their products. These include RIIT from Bangalore, Trendz Information Technologies, Dream Tekis Software, Indus Business, ESS, Paragon Web Studios and Vernalis Systems.

Sharing Agreement

Alongside, four memoranda of understanding (MoU) were signed which included technology sharing agreement between the Software Technology Park and the Government of South Africa, and MoUs by JIVA and ESS.

Dost India, District Online Smart Transactions — a National e-Governance seminar on eDistrict — deliberated issues relating to online services and recommended a seamless e-District online delivery mechanism under the National e-Governance programme.

Its objective was to ensure citizens at grassroots level get services at their doorstep through remote access. Mr R. Chandrasekhar, Additional Secretary, Depart of Information Technology, said that there was a necessity to deploy ICT solutions for good governance. At the State level, some 90 per cent of the citizen services could be provided. He called for an effective interface between delivery point and apex level administration.

The State Principal Secretary, ICT, Ms Ratna Prabha, said Gitex India 2007 and Indiasoft 2007 have proved to be successful and have helped generate both awareness and explore business opportunities in the ICT sector.
