Prism Tech interactive kiosks

Our Bureau

Chennai, March 5

Prism Technologies, a $10-million US-based technology company, plans to enter the Indian market with its digital signage and interactive kiosks that could be used as marketing tools. The kiosks were installed in a few retails shops in Chennai for a pilot project, according to its CEO, Mr G.V. Iyer.

The kiosks (called iKiosk) allow people use multimedia capabilities to access information in a mall or a shop. For example, a person can use the kiosk to search for a particular shop in a mall and also find out information like discounts offered by various shops. Similarly, one can configure his/her car using options available in the kiosk placed in a showroom. The idea was to give consumers comfort and personalised information while shopping, he told Business Line.

The company has installed over 1,000 iKiosks in the US for clients such as Bank of America and Home Depot. A company can network the kiosks and send content from a remote server. For instance, a company can run a promotion of a particular product by sending the information to all the kiosks, he said. In India, Prism is targeting the retail and hospitality sectors, he said.
