Off-shore Development States - Andhra Pradesh Melbourne ICT co Oakton opens office in Hyderabad Our Bureau
Hyderabad April 26 Mutual investments in IT industry will benefit Australia and India, said Mr Tim Holding, Minister for Information and Communication Technology, State Government of Victoria, Australia. The presence of Indian IT companies in Australia will increase the job opportunities for Australians, the Minister said after inaugurating the first overseas office of Melbourne-based Oakton Ltd here on Friday.
`ICT HOTSPOT'
The technology company's expansion into India is aimed at bringing the best of both worlds by gaining significant access to a second global ICT hotspot, a company release said. Oakton aims to employ about 200 people in its Hyderabad office by June 2009. The company earned revenues of about $77 million last year having 600 employees in its Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane offices. The company is listed in the Australian Stock Exchange since 2000. The Oakton Managing Director, Mr Neil Wilson, in a statement said, "We are growing rapidly in Australia at the moment and are excited about expanding into India, to achieve international scale. The new office will initially complete work for Australian clients and as the capability expands in scale the facility will have potential to service overseas clients in future." Melbourne is home to several Indian companies.
