It is the first Indian company with no affiliation with Carnegie Mellon's IT Service Qualification Centre to earn the assessment.
Bangalore May 7 Infosys BPO, the business process outsourcing subsidiary of Infosys Technologies, has become the first company in the world to earn the professional certification awarded by the Carnegie Mellon University covering the entire organisation. The certification of Level 4 e-Sourcing Capability Model for Service Providers (e-SCM-SP) is considered the highest rating that can be conferred on any organisation at the first capability determination. Apart from its centres at Bangalore, Jaipur and Pune, Infosys BPO's Brno centre in Czech Republic was also covered by the certification. So far 11 companies, including Infosys BPO, have been awarded e-SCM-SP certification for various streams of IT and ITES. Currently six more companies were being assessed for e-SCM-SP. Announcing this at a press conference here on Monday, Mr K. Dinesh, co-founder and Director of Infosys Technologies, said this is the first evaluation in the world covering the whole organisation (of a BPO), across multiple continents and geographies.
Level 5 assessment
He said the BPO arm was working to be assessed for Level 5 of e-SCM-SP. Infosys had announced the opening of two more centres, one in Mexico and Philippines. Infosys BPO, a pure-play process outsourcing company to get the coveted honour, also earned the distinction of being the first Indian company that had no affiliation with the ITSqc (Carnegie Mellon's IT Service Qualification Centre) to earn the assessment. Mr Amitabh Choudhry, CEO and Managing Director, Infosys BPO, said operational excellence continued to be a key differentiator and focus area for the company.
