`Pull-aside' meet with Bush on nuclear ties

K. Venugopal

Berlin June 8 The attempt of India and the US to settle the terms of the civilian nuclear cooperation may have nudged forward today at the seaside resort of Heiligendamm where the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, and the US President, Mr George Bush, had a short "pull-aside" meeting on the sidelines of the G-8 summit.

There was no word immediately on what they talked about but the fact that the National Security Advisers of the two countries, Mr M.K. Narayanan, and Mr Stephen Hadley, met separately to discuss the nuts and bolts of the deal provided credence to the impression that there was forward movement.

The two countries have been at this task for almost two years now
