Intel's roadmap has no new fabs

Bangalore June 22 Intel has decided not to create new facilities for the manufacture, assembly and testing of its frontline semiconductor products -- for now. That effectively closes its option of setting up a `fab' or silicon fabrication unit India -- something that seemed possible once the Indian Government's policy for such manufacturing fell into place.

A company spokesperson said that the decision was not something related just to India -- but to new manufacturing capacity per se.
