Silver Soft develops safety landing system for Airbus A-380

V. Rishi Kumar

Hyderabad, June 28 Technology solutions provider Silver Software has developed a complete safety landing software system for the large-bodied Airbus A-380 aircraft with significant part of the work handled out of India.

The company is now looking to expand operations by focussing on new verticals such as nuclear, space and gas transportation.

The Managing Director of Silver Software, Mr Senthil Kumaran, said that the company plans to step up presence in the critical safety software systems business, and expand beyond the aerospace and railways verticals to nuclear systems and gas delivery solutions.

US centre

The UK-based company, with development centre in Bangalore, is also in the process of setting up a centre in the US to offer solutions for aircraft manufacturers.

Speaking to Business Line, Mr Kumaran said, “The company has stayed focussed on developing software solutions that are critical for aircraft and rail safety systems. As a part of the company’s diversification plans, we a re entering into nuclear and gas delivery systems, which we see as the next growth area.”

Referring to the safety landing system developed by Silver, Mr Kumaran said, “The software is used on a revenue share model and compliments our other solutions such as on board electrical load management, fuel indicator and other safety related issues. This solution for A-380 is developed on a new protocol and based on a new integrated modular avionics platform. This brings down hardware usage significantly.”

Increasing headcount

The nine-year-old company now has 340 people and is planning to nearly double this number over couple of years. The company clients in the aviation space include Airbus, Boeing, BAE, Lockheed Martin among others. As the market for railway and gas system grows in the region, the company plans to expand operations and has invested in infrastructure that could host about 600 people.
