MBD launches online tutorial service

The initiative will offer three months to two years courses for class 10th and 12th students.

Publishing house MBD has launched online tutorial services for school children as well as for those preparing for engineering and medical entrance examinations.

With an initial investment of Rs 20 crore, the initiative will offer three months to two years courses for class 10th and 12th students of the Central Board of Secondary Education and the AIEEE (engineering entrance) and the AIPMT (medical entrance) aspirants.

Named MBD Alchemie, the tutorial service has been set up with an initial investment of Rs 20 crore. The company is targeting a revenue of Rs 100 crore in the next one year.

“There are more than five lakh students taking these examinations every year. Even if we acquire a small percentage of that number, we will have a turnover of Rs 100 crore from the initiative,” said Ms Monica Malhotra Kandhari, Director, MBD Group.

The tutorial will come at Rs 150 per month per subject. The company has tied up with the Internet service provider, Sify, so that students can study at any Sify I-Ways Internet kiosk at no extra cost.
