Mergers & Acquisitions Tulip IT eyes buys for remote infra management
Thomas K Thomas New Delhi, July 9 Enterprise voice and data services provider Tulip IT Services Ltd. is eyeing acquisitions in the remote infrastructure management space. The company is also looking to take licences to offer its services in other developing countries. At present Tulip IT provides Internet protocol based network connectivity to over 500 corporates in India. The company has also been given the International Long Distance licence by the Department of Telecom. Speaking to Business Line, Lt. Col. H.S. Bedi, Managing Director, Tulip IT Services Ltd. said, “We are now looking to expanding our presence from 800 cities to cover each every village in the country in two years time. We are also looking to replicate the business in other developing countries.” Tulip IT will be competing with the likes of multinational giants BT and AT&T in the international long distance segment. Col Bedi said that going forward once the ILD business grows in volume, Tulip IT may even consider owning an under sea cable system. As per industry estimates, the international connectivity market is expected to double from over Rs 1800 Crores in 2006 to over Rs 3600 Crores in 2012. “This licence opens a host of business opportunities for the company and Tulip is appropriately positioned to leverage these opportunities. With the addition of international connectivity to its portfolio, Tulip IT Services has become a unique service provider that provides customers with a one-stop-shop for all connectivity needs including Network Integration, Domestic Connectivity, Managed Network Services, Data Centers and International connectivity,” Col Bedi said. The company had recently launched $125 million Zero Coupon Convertible Bonds, which will be used for its expansion plans.
