HCL Infosystems on Thursday posted almost 13 per cent increase in consolidated net profit for the year ended June 2007, at Rs 315.95 crore, and announced that it has bagged a Rs 500-crore contract from Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd.

Consolidated gross sales, during the period, was up at Rs 11,855.43 crore compared with Rs 11,454.97 crore in the previous year.

For the quarter ended June 2007, the consolidated net profit rose almost 21.2 per cent to Rs 84.9 crore from Rs 70.03 crore in the year-ago period.

However, the gross sales for the quarter declined 1.3 per cent to Rs 3,108.31 crore from Rs 3,149.69 crore notched in the quarter ended June 2006.

The board of directors of the company has recommended a final dividend of 100 per cent per fully paid up share. HCL has announced a total dividend of 400 per cent for the year 2006-07.

Meanwhile, the contract clinched from BSNL involves a systems integration project for convergent billing and customer relationship management for the telecom giant, entailing the implementation of multiple technologies in computing and communication apart from setting up two latest data centres in Kolkata and Hyderabad.

Each of the centres would function as a disaster recovery site for the other. The project, whose implementation is spread over 18 months, also involves a support for seven years.
