New ATC Asian operations head

New Delhi, Sept. 12

American Tower Corporation has appointed Mr Amit Sharma as Executive Vice-President for its operations in Asia. Mr Sharma was earlier Country President for Motorola India. He will be based at ATC’s new office in Delhi. In this role, he will be responsible for pursuing opportunities to extend the company’s wireless communications site leasing business into India and Southeast Asia. Mr Sharma said that he would begin talks with Indian players for a possible joint venture. He said that ATC could also go for an outright purchase of a company having significant cellular infrastructure. Mr Sharma also added that the company was looking at offering its expertise to cellular operators for managing their infrastructure. —
