Set to offer new tools for designers & game developers

Hyderabad, Sept. 30 Autodesk Media & Entertainment (M&E) is in the process of introducing new suite of products that provide 3D designers and graphic content and games developers the ability to work on multiple core processors enhancing design capabilities while cutting short overall development time.

This new line of products assume importance from the India perspective as there is an increasing trend towards outsourcing and the local market of entertainment and gaming is getting bigger. The Product Marketing Manager, Autodesk, M&E, Mr Rob Hoffman, told Business Line that there is an increasing momentum towards outsourcing not only to save on costs, but it also brings about a different cultural influence to developing graphics and animations.

Business opportunity

While the nature and scope of 3D graphics and animations is getting lot more complex, there is need for new productivity tools.

“Significantly, while outsourcing itself will go up, there is a huge untapped, latent demand for these software products both from a developer’s perspective but also from those entering this field to make a career. This is just the beginning of a big business opportunity unfolding,” he explained.

Asked about piracy concerns, Mr Hoffman said that this is not an issue with China and India in isolation. “It is quite rampant in some of the mature markets such as the US and Canada too, but the level varies. However, the best way to address piracy issue is to educate users against pirated copies and its implications.

The Head of Marketing in India, Autodesk M&E,, Mr Sheraz Hasan, said in line with the trend animation houses such as UTV Toons, Visual Computing Labs, Crest Communications, Prana, and Maya Entertainment as well as game developers such as Dhruva, Lakshya Digital, Gameshashtra, DQ, FX Labs, gamers are on constant quest for growth in order to meet demand.
