New Delhi, Nov 23

The US-based MobileComm Professionals, a wireless engineering services company working with cellular operators, has launched mCarbon, a value-added service in India.

The flagship product of the brand (mCarbon) is speed SMS, the interactive session-based SMS service, launched in Indian markets for the first time.

The service, better described as intelligent bulk or smart bulk messaging, would entirely change the current picture of senseless messaging, Mr Rajesh Razdan, co-founder and director mCarbon, told newspersons on Friday. Interactive session-based SMS service allows users to interact with the sender with the press of a single button.

mCarbon will work with media companies, telecom operators, enterprises and content providers to give innovative services to be used in applications like SMS, music and community themes.

The market for mobile value-added services is currently Rs 400 crore, and it is expected to grow to around Rs 3,500 crore by 2010. “Revenue from the value added services segment is growing at a rate of 40-45 per cent a year,” he said.

Asked if the company is planning to tie up with operators in India, he said, “We are in advanced talks with the operators and will soon be having tie-ups with the major players in the industry.”
