New Delhi, Feb. 23 UTV on Saturday said it has moved the Madhya Pradesh High Court against the State’s order to ban its latest release Jodhaa Akbar.

The movie based on the marriage of mogul emperor Akbar to a Rajput queen has been in the news for the historical legitimacy of its interpretation.

Rajput organisations have been protesting the depiction of the female protagonist, played by Aishwarya Rai in the Ashutosh Gowariker directed film. “We had 25 prints in the market in Madhya Pradesh, but although we have run the movie in the first week I can’t give you an estimate of losses. But its not so much about revenue loss, but of principle,” said Mr Siddhartha Roy Kapur, Director, UTV Motion Pictures. The film was also cleared by the Censor board without cuts, pointed out Mr Kapur. UTV said it had the support of producers, distributors and local exhibitors.
