Our Bureau

Bangalore, April 8 Microsoft is targeting small businesses, educational institutions and individual users with its recently launched ‘Microsoft Office Live Workspace’ offering an online feature of Microsoft Office, to access and share documents anywhere anytime.

The service allows users to create, store, access and share documents and files in the workspace from any computer with an Internet connection and Web browser, free of cost, said Mr Siddharth Mangharam, Group Product Manager (Office), Microsoft.

The solution, which is available at http:/workspace.officelive.com, hopes to benefit small firms and other individual users like teachers, students and others for work, school or personal projects.

Office Live Workspace, which was launched worldwide a month ago, offers users features such as an activity panel, e-mail notifications, multiple file upload, and sharing interface. This collaborative communication tool hopes to make information access and sharing easy, time saving and interactive.

At a press gathering, Mr Mangharam and Mr Eric Gilmore, Senior Product Manager, Office Live Workspace, Microsoft Corp, demonstrated its various functions. Common applications include creating and managing school syllabus, evaluating and assessing student performance, posting notes, assignments and projects, planning an event such as a family get together or an alumni meeting, said Mr Mangharam. Small firms can also use this tool to manage office interactions, internal notifications and meetings.
