Mergers & Acquisitions Allied Digital buys 51% in Digicomp Shamik Paul Bangalore, April 11 Allied Digital Services Ltd, an IT infrastructure management and technical support services outsourcing company, said it acquired 51.05 per cent stake in Digicomp Complete Solutions Pvt Ltd to grow in the hardware repair services market. Digicomp, which provides component repair services to IT and telecommunications hardware makers, will enable Allied Digital to include this service in its Technical BPO portfolio, said the Chief Executive, Mr Bimal Raj. Allied Digital said original equipment makers in the IT and telecommunication sector outsource their customer care to Allied. As part of its Technical BPO services, the company provides telephone or Web-based, on-site, logistic and repair services to Unisys, and through Unisys, to the BT Group Plc, Nokia and Dell among others. Mr Raj said till now if any component in a PC needed mending, in most cases it had to be sent to its country of origin because Allied Digital did not have the facility to do it. But now the repairs would be done by Digicomp. This would help to cut cost and time, he added. Digicom is the registered repair vendor with IBM Global Service India Pvt Ltd since 2001 to help repair IBM range of PCs, servers, notebooks and peripheral products.
