Telecommunications Tata Tele has ‘least congestion’ Our Bureau Hyderabad, July 14 Tata Teleservices Ltd (TTSL) has emerged No. 1 in the Congestion data report of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) for January, February and March 2008. TTSL has recorded least congested Point of Interconnection (POI) of only 10 as compared to 83 POI of Airtel, 41 POI of Reliance and 43 POI of Vodafone. Additionally, TTSL is the only operator whose POI congestion has consistently reduced over a period of three months. The Chief Technology Officer, Tata Teleservices, Mr A.G. Rao, in a statement said, “Today mobile customers are very discerning and they look for quality of service rather than just cost advantage.” About eight million subscribers are added every month. To ensure seamless interconnection, TRAI has been monitoring the level of congestion at the POI between various service providers on a monthly basis. The quality has improved in March 2008 as compared with the performance in December 2007. The Cellular mobile telephone subscriber base has increased to 261.07 million as of March 2008.
