i-mate to launch ‘mass market’ phones

i-mate has announced plans to offer integrated mapping solutions on newly launched mobile phones and hinted at roll out of two “mass market” cellphone by the month end.

The Head of Enterprise and Career Sales, i-mate (India), Mr. Vishal Goyal, said they have partnered with Hyderabad-based SatNav Technologies to bundle the latter’s GPS navigation system in two of its recently launched mobile phones.

The idea of offering the GPS system with these mobiles is to offer a device to the user that has the capability to replace a laptop, music gadget, phone and a GPS system.

Referring to the recent launches, he said, “i-mate has launched four major models recently and within a fortnight, will launch two mass market PDAs priced about Rs 15,000.”

Ultimate 9502 and 8502 will come with seven bands as against the 3 or 4 in most phones now.
