Events Pursue ideas with passion, not money: Premji
Mr Azim Premji Our Bureau Bangalore, Dec. 16 The Wipro chairman, Mr Azim Premji, told budding entrepreneurs to work towards the success of their ideas with passion and commitment, without thinking about making money initially. “Very few successful entrepreneurs do it for money,” Mr Premji said, in his inaugural address at the TiE Entrepreneurial Summit (TES 2008). Addressing the 1,500 delegates, Mr Premji remarked that the turnout was an indicator of the enthusiasm entrepreneurs have and “it speaks well for the future of India” Sharing his learnings while being in business in the last 40 years, Mr Premji said “Opportunities don’t wait for anyone. Opportunities of today are gone tomorrow... one has to grab opportunities as they come.” Mr Premji said too much success brings complacency, while teaching a lot of lessons. Speaking about entrepreneurship through the journey of Wipro, which has transformed itself from a traditional consumer goods company to a global technology services company, Mr Premji stressed on characteristics of transparency, integrity and commitment to values in a company. “Integrity and unflinching commitment to values is what builds the backbone of a strong business,” Mr Premji said, adding there was no substitute for hard work and passion.
