Satyam: Railways arm to take legal view

New Delhi, Jan. 10

CRIS, the IT arm of Indian Railways, will take a legal view before proceeding any further on a letter of allotment it had issued to Satyam Computer Services in early January. The value of the letter of allotment issued is approximately Rs 5.3 crore. “The project is a pilot project to roll out ERP in three loco sheds of Indian Railways,” highly placed Railway sources told Business Line. This was as per a tender in which Satyam had emerged as the lowest bidder. “However, the contract has not yet been signed and purchase order not issued as well. In the backdrop of recent developments, the experience and financials (of the company) have to be re-checked. We have to take a legal view,” said the source, adding that the company also has to submit a bank guarantee. In case Satyam does not get the tender, then CRIS has to retender the project afresh as under Government rules usually the tendering process gets over with the issue of LoA. —
