Our Bureau Bangalore, Nov. 27 Infosys has said it is initiating an internal investigation on an alleged complaint filed by a former employee in a US court against the company for discriminating against her. According to certain news agency reports, an ex-employee, Ms Promila Awasthi, has filed a case in a California court against her former employee, the Fremont branch of Infosys, alleging that ``intolerable'' working conditions forced her to resign. She has also alleged that Infosys bosses refused to pay her overtime as per California laws. A spokesperson for Infosys told Business Line that while the complaint has not yet been formally served on Infosys, “we are taking the matter seriously, and are initiating an internal investigation to determine whether any genuine issue needs to be addressed.” The spokesperson said as a global company, the policies and practices of Infosys are harmonised with the local business norms and the legal environment in which their employees work. “Infosys is fully familiar with its obligations under the Fair Labor Standards Act and relevant state laws and does, indeed, pay all its non-exempt employees overtime in accordance with the law.” Moreover, Infosys policy provides 10 paid holidays to employees each year, including “floating holidays” to be utilised when client demands necessitate working on a day in which Infosys offices are closed.
