Pvt buses to be off the roads in Kerala

Our Bureau

KOCHI: All private buses in the State would be off the roads from Monday following failure of talks with the Government by bus operators recently on raising the bus fares.

All Kerala Private Bus Operators Organisation officials said that it would go ahead with the strike indefinitely until the bus fares are revised. The operators claimed that they were incurring heavy losses following the recent hikes in diesel. Hence they demanded that the minimum fare should be raised to Rs 3.50 and the charge per km to Rs 0.55.

According to them around 20,000 private buses operating on various routes throughout the State would stop their services.
