CCEA okays Rs 141 cr support for 15 PSUs

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) today approved providing non-Plan budgetary support of Rs 140.31 crore towards liquidating outstanding statutory dues of the employees in 15 public sector units, the Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Mr Priranjan Das Munshi told reporters after the meeting.

These PSUs are: Andrew Yule & Co, Bharat Heavy Plates & Vessels, Bharat Opthalmic Glass, Burn Standard, Bharat Wagon Engineering, Heavy Engineering Corporation, Hindustan Cables, HMT (MT), HMT Watches, Hindustan Photofilms, Instrumentation Ltd, NEPA Ltd, National Instruments Ltd, Triveni Structurals and Tungabhadra Steel Products.

The Cabinet also gave approval for inclusion of an additional 1,113 km of national highways for upgradation in the third phase of the National Highways Development Project over and above the length of 10,000 km.

On the basis of the current prices, cost implication for additional 1,113 km comes out to Rs 7,257 crore out of which, investment from Government would be Rs 3,170 crore and by private sector Rs 4,087 crore.
