Computer Usage Columns - Tip Off Online info on Outlook
I had set up an Outlook account in the notebook PC of my colleague. But now my friend is not able to send and receive mails, though he was able to do so earlier. What could be the reason? Also, I would like online technical information using Outlook, its configuration and its working. Please give suggestions. Deepa With regard to your friend's problem, please check that the account details are configured properly and that the mail server (SMTP and POP3) is reachable from wherever your colleague now is. To check this, you can do the following (assuming that your SMTP server is smtp.vsnl.co.in): Connect to the Net and please open the command prompt and type "ping smtp.vsnl.co.in". You will get a reply from the server. If you get a "Request timed out", then either your server is not reachable or there is some problem with your Net connection. It would have been helpful if you had given the error message, and the name of the operating system used. However, you can try reconfiguring Outlook Express. Here is a configuration manual at: http://www.sidetrips.com/ support/manual_email_outlook_ express.asp The best place to look for OE help is your OE help itself. Please see the "Troubleshooting your connection" section and follow the steps mentioned in the "What's wrong" column.
