Modern crime-busters

Sir,

`When the cop clicked' (in eWorld dated October 18, 2004) was very interesting, besides providing an insight into the police department's inclination to adapt modern technology for crime prevention and detection. I recall the work done by the police officer, K. Radhakrishnan, as Commissioner of Police in Coimbatore, in the aftermath of the serial bomb blasts that rocked the city in 1998.

He worked closely with a cross-section of society and brought the people closer to the police. Simultaneously, he kept the morale of the police force high by making himself accessible and by implementing several welfare schemes for them. I am glad to read about his recent achievements in modernising the women's wing of the police force.

K. Ramasubramanian,

Coimbatore.
