Cardamom Research Centre, Appangala, is celebrating its golden jubilee on December 24-26.

The centre has to its credit development of high-yielding, disease-resistant cardamom, production and protection technologies for spices.

The centre also undertakes diversified activities which include production and distribution of planting materials of improved varieties of cardamom as well as black pepper to the farming community.

The organised research in cardamom in the country got a fillip with the setting up of the centre at Appangala, 8 km from Madikeri, the headquarters of Kodagu district in Karnataka.
