Faced with a slowdown in sales and a bunching up of demand for just the top-end variants, FCA India has launched a new variant of the Jeep Compass. Sales of the new ‘Sport Plus’ derivative will start from this week. The plan seems to be to position a more desirable entry-level offering in the Sport Plus variant; a move that will also possibly help tackle the surge in competition that is expected in the SUV segment within the next few months.

A company press release mentions that the new Jeep Compass Sport Plus will be priced at ₹15.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The variant is being offered with a set of additional new features as standard, such as 16-inch sporty alloys, dual-zone auto climate control, rear parking sensors and black roof rails, in addition to the 21 key standard features, including the electric parking brake, disc brakes on all four wheels and the frequency selective damping suspension feature, which also is standard across the entire Jeep Compass range.
