Telecommunications Idea Cellular commissions Rayalaseema corridor Our Bureau
HYDERABAD, June 13 IN tune with its corridor-to-corridor connectivity drive to provide uninterrupted mobile telephony experience in Andhra Pradesh, Idea Cellular Ltd has commissioned its fourth Rayalaseema Corridor a stretch of 460 km, the longest in the State. The Chief Operating Officer of Idea Cellular Ltd, Mr Sanjeev Aga, said the launch of the fourth corridor was another step towards providing uninterrupted coverage across the State. With this, the cellular subscribers can expect a lot more innovation as well as customer-focussed initiatives from Idea Cellular in the days to come, Mr Aga said. The Rayalaseema corridor lies on the National Highway 7 towards the Karnataka State border. From Hyderabad it goes up to Hindupur covering towns such as Kurnool, Dhone, Gooty, Ananthapur along its course. Complementing the other three existing corridors Costal, Deccan and Krishna, forming a major stretch of corridor connectivity, with the addition of this, a distance of about 1,500 kms spans the length and breadth of the State. The Chief Operating Officer of Idea Cellular, AP, Mr S.K. Subramanian, said, ``we expect our corridor connectivity to further augment the socio-economic activity in the Telengana and Rayalaseema regions, thereby furthering the economic development in these regions.'' Businessmen, traders, farmers etc, now have the opportunity to adopt cellular technology and staying connected with Idea Cellular across the State as well as with the rest of the world. Distance had now become a non-issue, he said. The mobile phone services operator, which has a subscriber base of about 2.7 lakh users in the State, is planning to reach out new areas and has presence in about 100 towns across the State.
