Top Air France executive team coming

Ashwini Phadnis

IN an affirmation of faith in the business prospects that the Indian market has to offer, two members of the Air France (AF) Executive Committee are to visit India later this month.

"The two big chiefs of Air France — Mr Patrick Alexandre, Executive Vice-President, International Commercial Affairs, and Mr Bruno Matheu, Executive Vice-President, Marketing and Network, will be visiting India on July 18. The visit is primarily to see the situation in India for themselves,'' the airlines General Manager, India, Mr Jean-Louis Calmettes, told Business Line.

While the airline officials are tight-lipped on what impact the forthcoming visit could have on the airline operations to and from India, they did say that the two officials among themselves took all the commercial decisions, decided on schedules, revenue management and marketing initiatives.

Besides, the airlines' Executive Vice-President and Managing Director, Asia-Pacific, Mr Marc Benedetti, will also accompany the senior airline officials.

During the visit, apart from meeting with airline staff and passengers, the two senior officials will also have informal meetings with the senior officials of the Ministry of Civil Aviation.

While it is to be the first visit for Mr Matheu, Mr Alexandre visited India two years ago, airline officials said. It is interesting to note that this is the second high profile visit to India by a senior AF official.
